When the busiest shopping center in Europe debuts one of the biggest indoor convex 3D screens on the continent, they want to blow visitors away with immersive visuals to match. In April of 2024, Westfield Les 4 Temps did just that, with the help of Superbien. To activate visitors’ imaginations and refresh their visual palettes between advertisements, OLGA helped Superbien bring this vibrant and lush aesthetic to life as the backdrop for a playful narrative starring a little gecko with a mischievous spirit. The 30-second Westfield Rise Digital Dream vignette will run indefinitely, punctuating branded content and promotions.
Westfield Les 4 Temps, La Défense is one of the biggest retail malls and commercial spaces in France spanning 4 levels and over 140,000 square meters. It houses more than 200 boutiques, 40 restaurants, and a 16-screen cinema. The shopping giant also hosts events and live concerts and its new 250 square meter convex 3D screen is located right in the heart of the space. Crowning the massive atrium, crisscrossed with escalators and flanked by LED banner screens that hug each level, the new monolithic display is unmissable. The immersive 3D screen boasts spatialized sound and is comprised of 7 ultra high definition streams and 37 million pixels.
Needless to say, when you’re working with technology of this caliber, you want to push it to its limits and show it off. For Westfield Rise, it was important to mesmerize and engage shoppers in between ads. The Superteam had the idea for an endearing, expressive partner to play a quick game of hide and seek with the audience. The story found its star in a very charming and very big-eyed gecko. The technicolor canopy home of our super cute, totally curious reptile guide provided so many varied textures to showcase the range of the 3D screen that it was easy to imagine all the ways he might interact with his environment. From spongy moss to dewy droplets, twinkling fireflies to luminous pollen flecks, the lively little guy ranges all over the landscape, finally leaping out at the audience with a rascally flick of his tongue. Thanks to the 3D capabilities of the screen, the audience is finally a real part of his world. Superbien’s vision, inspiration, and precise storyboards made the creative direction of this project just as much fun as the final product.
The Superteam’s keen intuition to put the technology in the spotlight while expertly illustrating a relatable, though wordless, story made this aesthetically bold and warm-hearted dreamscape broadly appealing and a joy to watch. Relating the plucky and likable gecko to the audience helped to underscore the visual metaphor that the Westfield Les 4 Temps is just as magical as the fantastical jungle where our protagonist lives. Here’s to finding your own adventure and rollicking good times at Westfield Les 4 Temps – even if you can’t find any real, live geckos!
A massive thank you to our amazing partners at Superbien for the opportunity to be part of this project.
